An Eventful Week

Well, things have been a little busy around here, and I feel like I’m getting a little bit behind on my blogging!  My mom and sister are in town, and we’ve been going non-stop with lots to do and see in Oklahoma City and then with a quick trip up to see family in Kansas City.  We had a great time, and now it’s time to get back to work.

Here are some pictures from our recent adventures…

My husband’s first rowing regatta (and his boat is the one in first place!)

Our delicious brunch at Cheever’s.   I love this place, and I discovered that they have a really great brunch menu on the weekends.

They make their french toast our of croissants, and I think I might have to try to duplicate their recipe at home.   They also had the best syrup with toasted pecans!

We drove up to Kansas City, with one doggie in tow.  She’s such a good travel companion…

We spent a lot of time just relaxing and catching up at my Grandma’s house.  Her yard was looking so beautiful with all the rain that they’ve had this year, and it was fun to get a tour of her garden.  She also gave me some of her vintage things that she doesn’t use anymore so I’ll post photos of those later.  It was fun to see all the things in the attic- lamps, frames, old family photos, tins, pots, rugs…

We also had a personal tour of KU while we were visiting my aunt and uncle.  The campus (in Lawrence) was so pretty and green, and the cold front that came through on Monday made it feel like Colorado instead of Kansas.

The first photo is from the school’s website, but you can see how pretty it is with all the matching buildings.  Looks like it’s nice in the fall- too bad we won’t be around.

They also had this crazy tree art on campus- it was like a the artist made a large nest around a tree.  It was neat to stand inside it and look out through the branches, and it was also a nice break from the sun.

Alright, it’s time I signed off for the night, but I promise to get some house photos up this week of all the things we’ve been working on.  I’ve gotten a couple of things done with my mom’s help, and we are about to start on some outdoor projects thanks to the hail.  I’ve got to choose a house color soon so we can take down the hail-beaten siding and refurbish the wood underneath.
